Our session started with a light recap and meeting the two groups of clones as well as the two adventurers that knew the original versions of the characters. They found that the incident with the sphinx and Rokthed and Alcied was almost two years ago, one group of clones has been here three months and the other a year, the clones seem to be skilled like the party but not as experienced as the group.
Din had the idea to match the hand writing of her clones with the writing she found within her whale companion Kin, finding the clones had worse penmanship and her own matched the writing. She also quizzed them on deep space travel and Astro mechanical theory and neither seemed to know what she was talking about. One of the clones was an armorer artificer named Ithy, the other was an alchemist witch named Thiel.
Brux played with his clones learning that they two served the same patron and had versions of his weapon, just not as far along. They glorbed around, taking the shape of each other, making a plasmoid stack, and haunted the rest of the party. Bruu was a pact of the chain warlock with a flying sword familiar, the other was a Talisman warlock named Ux.
Quasar talked to his clones about what they remembered. Zar was a patinaed copper circle of the moon druid and Quay was a wooden wildfire druid. They each remembered way more then Quasar but have some bits missing or contrary to each other. Zar remembers an old man creating him and seeing him work on his patinaed hands where as Quay remembers wooden hands. The man made them to help and after a point he was no longer there, so they wandered.
The group asked if any of their allies could use the sending spell or scry to see if they could communicate with the missing sphinx youth and found only Tellgedis could. He used the scry spell and could see they were moving the immobilized form of his son through hallways matching what Argentheart had. the group pivoted on their original plan of going to Krynn to instead go to the local Argentheart office here on Glben in the frog city of Thunder Croak to hack into their data pads and get more information on why they are moving the young sphinx.
Telgeddis cast seeming on the party to make them look like frog folk. One of the chimera agents flew them near the city gates, dropping them off out of sight. The group, in their frog forms, were able to enter the city without any problem. within they saw many frog folk going about their days. There were also many groups of warriors wandering the city aimlessly as well as large frogmen recognized to be Banderhob guarding important looking frogmen. They saw someone try to pick pocket one of the nobles and get eaten by a banderhob so they made haste to get to the most boring looking office building with the sigil of Argentheart on the side. They managed to convince the frog guards that they were here to report to Argentheart and were let through the doors.
Within the headquarters they encountered a map room that had four frog folk scholars and a small frog folk scribe who introduced himself as Patrick. The map room had a large map of the surrounding jungle with crossed off temples and a big circle and a question mark around the temple the sphinx was located in. the group wanted to destroy the map but were unsure when would be the best time. they told Patrick they needed to go to the supply room to do a report on a tablet and he jumped at the chance to help them. With Patrick as their guide, they made their way to an elevator and as they went up a few floors asked Patrick a few things about his life. He used to be an explorer and adventurer going and capturing monsters. He stopped doing fieldwork after losing the love of his life, Riberta, in a massive insect nest. Brux immediately wanted to adopt Patrick and Quasar and Din were against the idea.
They arrived on the destined floor and as they left the elevator a noble and his entourage pushed their way passed them, Patrick bowed and would not make eye contact with Lord Maximillian Double Croak, Master of High Croak Keep, the established adventurer around these parts. The group instantly disliked him. they found the supply room and talked with the outfitter, gaining the use of a loner data pad that was scratched up, dried wet sticky finger printed, and chained to a desk in the supply area. Quasar and Brux hid was Din was doing as she hacked her way into the system and did her digging. First, she made a team matching their froginess in the system, naming Din Lily, Brux Leap, and Quasar Kermit. She they poked around and tried to see why the young sphinx was being moved and found multiple creatures were being moved for something happening in twelve hours. She attempted to cancel the move but is unsure if it worked, the system locked her out moments after the command was made, bricking the tablet. They got the feeling there was a buffet line being set up for Argentheart.
During this time Patrick was looking out a window and waxing poetically about living in the past, in the shadows of other frogmen, and what would make Riberta happy. The desk clerk was uninterested in anything the party was doing. The group grabbed supplies for the road, more capture nets and essentials and Patrick made the decision he was going with them and back into the field. The group said sure and watched as he cashed in numerous years of pay to deck himself out with all kinds of gear. They got back to the elevator and when they got to the main floor, they heard bickering near the main hall and the map room.
At the intersection they found the source of the bickering. Lord Maximillian Double Croak, Master of High Croak Keep was in deep argument with a figure that was almost familiar to the group. She was a wolf person just like one of the enemies turned secret ally, Juniper, but her coloring was different, leading the group to believe this was a clone. The group watched as the conversation went the wrong way and Clone Juniper pulled out a revolver and shot Lord Maximillian Double Croak, Master of High Croak Keep in the face. Combat was had, but not by the party, as hidden allies on Juniper’s side started taking shots at the frog lord and his entourage and the party fled into the map room. The frog lord used magic to summon additional Banderhobs to his cause. The group burned the map, debated taking it with or ruining it further, splashed acid on the window leading out as well as the wall next to it. the group jumped out the window and when Patrick jumped out, they threw him back in and ran off into the jungle. Now they just must figure out how to get to Argenthome in less than twelve hours, free a sphinx, and escape before Argentheart the dragon gets there for his oracular meal.
