Session 12: Into the Dragons Lair

The party chose to use the underground tunnels and rail system to get as close to the sacrifice buffet line as possible. Brux made himself look like a guard with disguise self, Din let Brux fake handcuff her so she looked like a prisoner, and Quasar noted that there were many auto gnomes wandering around the space station as it was so he would likely be unnoticed.

The tunnels were mostly unchanged from the last time they were down here, except the rail cars were temporarily down, due to the large antimagic strike from the Lapidary forces. They came to a rail station that had noise echoing from within and found a large giant like creature attempting to unjam a rail car from a tunnel while being watched by its keepers. There was a red dragon knight, a few troops, and a manticore waiting to travel the tunnel as well. The party convinced them to help transfer a prisoner, Din, to Argentheart for the feast. They worked together with the giant to clear the rail car and strap it to the giant so it could pull them through the rail system.

Awkward tension while now stuck on a rail car with the enemy was broken when a monster known as an Unentangler blasted the giant and turned its arm and shoulder into raw meat chunks. The argent forces attacked the wild and loose beast while the party slunk off into the tunnels. After avoiding another group of Argentheart minions they eventually came out near the temple grounds. They could see the feast layout. Nine large plinths with monsters unconscious but alive being held in a magical ritual by wizards. Behind the plinths was the Argentheart temple, a massive structure with doors wide enough to fly a smaller ship through. There were a few other arrayed forces of Argentheart guarding the buffet grounds, noticing the party as they approached. Brux was wearing a disguise, appearing as the dwarven wizard Headmaster and started ordering guards to go investigate things “further away” and for a few moments that worked.

The group took a closer look at the monsters noticing it was a wide array. There was a couatl, an adolescent Astral Dreadnaught, Gredrenis the young sphinx, an oracular beast, an angel with its wings torn off, a lunar naga, an ogre mage, a fey hound, and a strange brown dragon. The group contemplated how to free the sphinx as the sound of shattering glass was followed by a massive shadow. A gargantuan ape like demon fell into the center of the buffet and started bashing the Argentknights, distracting them enough for the group to start knocking out mages and healing the sacrificial monsters. As the group engaged in their skullduggery, they noticed a red wobbly Autognome walking out of the temple, it approached the giant ape demon and transformed into a massive red dragon itself, one with a smaller silver dragon stuck into the sunken and desiccated chasm that might have once held a heart. Argentheart himself had entered the fray.

The party worked swiftly, healing, and freeing monsters and were able to release the sphinx, the adolescent astral dreadnaught, the lunar naga, the broken angel, and the oracular “mole rat” before fleeing back the way towards hopefully some sort of rescue.

The session ended there for the night, I forgot to give them messages from their allies as they had completed their tasks assigned to them. they also have now leveled up to level seven.
