We picked up where we left our heroes, outside a cave. Their dragonborn paladin stayed outside, having background reasons that would be explained later. The rest of the group followed the wings the druid had seen through the caves, eventually finding a chamber with two large panthers and an insect fey creature. The group explained they were here to help and asked why this creature was attacking the miners. It turned out the panthers were illusions and the fey creature was trying to stop the miners from waking up the bad man in the chamber. There were ancient fey on this planet that bound an undead monster into a crypt, which was almost discovered. The party agreed to investigate this undead monster and potentially put an end to it.
There was a small ziggurat, fast sword wielding astral elf zombies, and cloaked undead minions using an item to open the sarcophagus holding a scion of the death god. The scion fought with the party, their fey friend using other statues as mech suits to assist the group. The battle field was littered with difficult terrain, hiding spots, and many undead foes. The fight took most of the session and had a few clutch moments but eventually the scion fell and the party immediately looted the various magic items from his bones.
The fey creature was very pleased it could stop guarding this location and agreed to help the miners differently if something else bad happened. The group thanked their reporter friend that revealed they were familiar to her, she remembered seeing them over three months ago at a cocktail bar on an asteroid. She told them if they ever need her help to look for her there or reach out to some world called Canterog.
The group started heading back to their ship and we ended there for the night.
The group did great with the longer wild combat with multiple spell casters, a large ogre style death giant running across the battlefield, and fast zombies. There were multiple moments I feared I was going to murder the party but they pulled through with quite a bit of luck.
