The party rejoined their crew and learned their dragonborn friend had been trapped in caves beneath his master’s kingdom for almost a year after a coup that Argentheart rescued him from. The party understood and it seemed each of their allies had some sort of trauma on their home world that they were rescued from.
They also received a care package from Argentheart, the Argusdrive. It is a device that allows someone to scan a monster and get important information about it to add to a database at Argenthome. This device was to be used when collecting magical specimens in the field. The group had two options for the next planet for their mission. A frozen planet being touted as a vacation resort or a gas giant world with ever changing terrain being used by adrenaline junkies and survival training. They chose to head to Kaatarith the ever changing. Their journey was quick and they found their landing platform on a floating island above a giant ocean. They were met by a giff, a hippo man, ranger named Clyde (nicknamed by the party Clive) that gave them the low down of the land masses. Giant slabs of rock orbit erratically around the central storming mass that comprises the gas giant here. Each slab seems to be a different environment, from forests to swamp to savannah, each slab has life thriving on it. they were told to tread carefully and try to leave things as they found it, but also there is an anomaly there. Slain creatures or removed creatures seemed to reappear on their native slab. Weird magics seem to be the only explanation, blame wizards.
The group wanted to do some shopping in town, found supplies, took care of some ruffians squatting in the inn, and were issued a challenge. The Juniper’s recovery team wanted to stretch their legs and race the party to the central gas cloud while catching monsters along the way. The Recovery team had an extra member so Clyde was given to the party as their partner for this mission. The group declined the original prize of an upgraded ship and asked instead for a favor no questions asked. The recovery team agreed and took a head start, since the party had a local ranger to guide them.
Clyde supplied some hover bikes for the group and they made their way to their first slab, a lightly forested area with some smaller lakes. The group rode swiftly and found their first target, a strange Gork. With the body of a river hog and a crocodilian snout, the gorks registered on the scanner as a trainable mount and guard creature for the brave soul that can tolerate its constant fear of open sky. The group beat it up and captured it in their company supplied stasis nets and sent off a flare for B group to pick this up.
The session ended there for the night. They encountered my first kit bashed monster, which was awesome to see how they reacted to seeing something totally new to all players. A
